Manoa Falls is a very popular hike and the trail is well-maintained. The falls are 150 feet tall and I think this is one of the prettiest hikes on the island.
Manoa Falls Parking and Trailhead
Manoa Falls is located in Manoa Valley in Honolulu near the Lyon Arboretum.
You’ll need to pay $5 for parking and there is a little snack and gift shop called Rainbow’s End. Apparently in this same location there is an abandoned zoo where parts of the TV show Lost was filmed!
As you can see from the map you’ll walk up Manoa Rd a bit and then clearly see the trailhead veer off to the right.
The hike is easy and incredibly pretty, but it can be a little slippery at parts. It rains a ton in this area so the trail is often wet.
It feels like you’re journeying through an ancient jungle, which is probably true. The falls is tall, though can be underwhelming if there hasn’t been much rain recently. The pool at the bottom is blocked off with “do not enter” signs but there will probably be people who disregard that.
Apparently there is bacteria in the water than can cause serious flu-like symptoms.
